Coca-Cola HBC was again named an A-listed company on Tuesday 7 December, achieving an “A” rating in two areas, namely climate change and water conservation, awarded by the CDP. This is the sixth year in a row that Coca-Cola HBC has received this rating for combating climate change, and the fifth time in six years for water protection.

Out of the 13,000 companies assessed by CDP, Coca-Cola HBC is among only 1% of the companies that have achieved a double “A” rating.

“This is a great recognition of all the efforts our employees deliver every day to build a company and a future that is even more sustainable. We started this journey many years ago and we believe it is crucial to our future growth. The recent commitment to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions in our value chain by 2040, and the harsh reality presented at COP26, remind us of the seriousness of the challenges we face and the work that remains to be done,” said Marcel Martin, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Coca-Cola HBC.

This is the latest in a long line of awards given to Coca-Cola HBC by a number of respected sustainability institutes and indices such as DJSI, MSCI ESG, FTSE Russell ESG and ISS-Oekom.

In October 2021,Coca-Cola HBC committed to achieving zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by 2040. The company has developed a comprehensive action plan and will invest EUR 250 million in emission reduction initiatives by 2025. By 2030, the company will have reduced its emission rate by 25% across its value chain in Scopes 1, 2 and 3, with a further reduction of 50% over the next decade as part of an existing science-based target. To address the 90% of Scope 3 emissions that are caused by third parties, Coca-Cola HBC will expand its existing cooperation with suppliers. Greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced by investing in other climate protection measures in cases where they cannot be fully eliminated.
